African Violets

African violets make wonderful houseplants. They are easy to care for and produce beautiful blooms that will brighten any room in your home. The African Violet is  an ideal houseplant because  it prefers the same moderate temperatures as people. They don't need direct sunlight. They require  good light, but hot, direct sunlight will scorch them and cause unsightly leaf blemishes.

Avoid getting the leaves wet when you water by watering them from beneath in a saucer that will draw the water to the roots, and feed them each time you water them for ideal blooms.

For repotting your African Violets a mixture composed of about two parts fertile loam, one part leaf mold or peat, and one part sand or perlite is ideal.

Best in Show in Australia, with over 200 blooms!

If you are going to grow just one other blooming houseplant besides African violets, we would highly recommend trying Streptocarpus.  They are extremely easy to grow and almost constantly rewarding.
