The Windmill Arts and Crafts Market They say that the number one thing visitors do when they visit an area is shop. It is a staple of every vacation and it promises to provide some delightful experiences here in the Finger Lakes. Unique experiences might include a visit to an Amish bakery in Wheeler that is discovered off the beaten path on a Saturday morning on County Road 8, or a day at the Naples Valley Arts and Crafts Market in the charming and historic village of Naples. Roadside fruit stands offer seasonal fruits and vegetables. Joseph's Market in Naples and Dean's Market in Bath are always a hub of activity from early Spring until late Fall and offer the freshest produce to be found in the area. During the grape season it seems that every other house is offering homemade grape pies along with other freshly baked delicacies. Locally, it is but a brief drive to Monica's Grape Pies, which has become a much sought after celebrity since Monica's appearance on HGTV's Food Channel. Artisans exhibit their wares in various galleries and gift shops that dot the landscape and even gently used merchandise and designer clothing can be discovered in the little boutiques that arouse the curiosity of a visitor and satisfy the most avid bargain hunter. Oldies But Goodies boasts four floors of gifts and antiques and though a bit off the beaten path it is easily accesible from I-86 on your way to the Corning Museum of Glass. Artizanns in Naples is the place to shop for art glass and other beautiful and one of a kind creations of local artisans such as Paul Willsea, Carol O'Brien, Jeanne Cease,Larry Dickens and others. There are plenty of antique shops that entice the most discriminating visitor to become a collector. The Antique Mile in Bloomfield along the reknowned Route 5 and 20 with a stop for lunch at the Holloway House, or a visit to the Ontario Antiques Mall along Route 332 just out of Canandaigua can easily take up the greater part of your day, put a dent in your wallet, and a smile on your face. Another favorite is the Antiques Emporium at Big Flats. You won't want to miss the Wild Goose Chase Antiques on Keuka Lake either or Antiques at the Warehouse. Those who prefer the dynamics of a Shopping Mall can choose from The Arnot Mall at Horseheads, the Mall at Henrietta, or beautiful Eastview Mall in Victor. All are true shopping meccas that can easily consume an entire day. The Waterloo Premium Outlet Mall is also a favorite of visitors to the area with shops for almost every household brand you hope to find. (We even have complimentary discount coupon books). It is just off I-90 at exit 42 and about an hour away.
