The Finger Lakes may be the ultimate location to
experience Agri Tourism at its finest.Locals and vacationers
alike - cannot seem to get enough of our beautiful country
setting. Is it because most people are at least a couple of
generations removed from the rural lifestyle once
commonplace among the population? Whatever, Agri
tourism offers a way to get back in touch with your
heritage.
Beginning in early Spring, come to experience the magic
of the Sugar Shack as clear sap from the Sugar Maples is
converted into the most delicious Maple Syrup you can
imagine. Come and pick fresh Strawberries and
Raspberries in June at Jerome's You Pick Em. You can even
learn to make homemade Strawberry or Raspberry Jam.
Blueberries at Blueberry Hill in July, participte in the
Grape Harvest and the Fall Foliage Festivals, fresh
Apples in September at a nearby apple orchard, and Pumpkins
and Squash abound at roadside markets, or choose your
own Christmas tree from a nearby Christmas Tree Farm. Every
month of the year there is something special going on to
take part in whether it is learning about herbs and making
your own herb tea at Healing Spirits Herb Farm or learning
to make your own healing herb salves just as they did so
many years ago.
Visit a spectacular milking parlor at a working farm that
produces the milk you drink each day where you will be
welcomed to tour the facilities, or go horseback
riding at a nearby stable or at Letchworth State Park. You
will be awestruck at the beauty. In the winter enjoy a
sleigh ride together across the snow. Cross country skiing
and snow shoeing are also nearby at the Cummins Nature
Center in nearby Naples.
Learn about wine making and sample award winning wines at
any of a hundred or more vineyards. Experience Monica's
famous Grape Pies as seen on HGTV and take in the beauty of
our awesome Canandaigua and Keuka Lakes.
You can even visit our newest Agri Tourism attraction:
the Cohocton Wind Farms, to survey a spectacular form of
renewable energy. A great topic for your student's term
paper.
Whatever the Agri Tourism interest you want to
enjoy you will find it here in the Finger Lakes
